An invitation is generally a permission given by the Australian Immigration Department to apply for the point-based general skilled migration visas. They are issued through Skill Select, which is an online expression of interest system of Australia.
Department of Home Affair invites applications with highest point score to apply for the visa. However, in cases where applicants have achieved equal points scores are invited on the basis of time they got their scores for their visa. Applicants with earlier dates of effect are generally given first priority for invitations.
The occupations that received high number of EOI’s than the number of places available in the occupation ceiling, such occupations are called pro-rata occupations. Invitations for pro-rata occupations are limited and subject to higher minimum points or longer waiting procedure times.
